Shared hosting already includes a weekly or daily scan depending on the plan. Protect and Protect Plus are add-ons. They are ordered from support so the scanner can be pointed at the right document root.
Questions
Does a scan change my files?
The included scan only reports. Cleanup on Protect removes files the vendor marks as malicious and writes a report you can read.
Will this stop every attack?
No product does. Keep WordPress and plugins updated, and do not reuse the hosting password on other sites.
